Thank you so much to Brea Stewart, The Thyroid Damsel has been nominated for the Liebster award! YAY!
The Liebster Award is an internet based award given to bloggers by other bloggers as a way to promote each other and get discovered online.
I love this idea, as the blogging community is so great to be a part of it, and it’s lovely having recognition of your blog and your work by other bloggers!
As part of my nomination, I have to answer some questions that have been given to me by Brea! So before I answer my set of questions, here is a little bit about Brea!
Brea is a 19-year-old student nurse from Australia, who blogs about health and wellness, and also her journey into becoming a qualified Nurse!
Here are my questions that Brea has set me.
1.) Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging as my subject is very important to me and close to my heart. As someone who suffers from multiple autoimmune diseases, and various chronic illnesses, I wanted to start writing about my experiences and share them, so that maybe others can learn from what has happened to me, and to also have a place to share ideas and get support. I also want to raise awareness of autoimmune diseases, as I believe they are not talked about enough in the media.
2.) What life event has influenced you to become the person you are today?
Being diagnosed with Graves disease. This was a major turning point for me and has resulted in a lot of changes in my life. I have had to have my thyroid completely removed, and my gallbladder, and have since been diagnosed with Coeliac disease and Fibromyalgia. These conditions have really affected all aspects of my life, including personal and work related. However, they have also made me a stronger person, and have shown me who my true friends are, and also proved that I have the most supportive family!
3.) What is your absolute favorite food?
Ooooh ….. that is a hard one — I suppose food wise it would have to be Pasta. I absolutely love anything pasta related. Although now I have been diagnosed Coeliac, I have to have gluten free pasta! 🙁
Other than that, and it is a tough call, but chocolate! – Who doesn’t love chocolate!
4.) Describe the 1 piece of clothing that you can’t live without!
Urm…. I don’t really have one piece, to be honest. I am not a huge fashion conscious person in all honesty. As long as it fits and looks decent on me I will wear it lol.
I suppose shoes in general?? If I had to pick something. I wouldn’t like to walk around without shoes on! 🙂
5.) What is a fun fact about you that not many people know?
I have absolutely no idea!!! LOL – That’s a really hard question. Erm…. Ok, I suppose I have a couple of ‘weird’ and completely useless skills and tricks …
One would be I have a strange ability to be able to put my tongue down the back of my throat… don’t ask me how I can do this! and yes I do mean actually down my throat!
I also used to play the Violin when I was younger, and I can recite the alphabet backward!
Now here are my 5 nominees! Congratulations!
I absolutely love Natalie’s’ blog. As a fellow Chronic Illness Blogger member, I really hope she gains success spreading her message of positivity. It is great seeing a blog that focuses on positives and not just the negatives of having a chronic illness. Natalie prides herself on being an advocate for those that suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease and has also had stories published on The Mighty.
Cheyanne’s blog is my second nomination. I love the look of her blog. It has a fun and girly feel to it and makes you want to read her stories and posts. Cheyanne blogs about her illnesses Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and its comorbid conditions, Mast Cell Disease, Dysautonomia, and Gastroparesis. She is also a Vlogger and has an Etsy shop! As another member of Chronic illness bloggers I wish Cheyanne all the best on her journey and hope she gets better soon!
Sarah is my third nomination and is a blogger, advocate for chronic illnesses and occasional public speaker.
Sarah suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and Charcot Marie Tooth disease and has also had articles published on The Mighty. I love that Sarah’s blog is named after the quote ‘when you hear hoof beats think horses, not zebras’. As someone who suffers chronic illness, our doctors definitely need to realize that sometimes they need to look for zebras! If you have a stripy illness or know anyone that does, definitely check out Sarah’s blog!
My fourth nomination is Fran. Fran is a political blogger who writes about the struggles that many of us who suffer from chronic illnesses face on a daily basis. I agree with Fran that sometimes we need to stand up and be counted and get our voices heard. It is all very well writing articles and complaining, but until we stand together and become united we won’t be heard.
My fifth and final nomination is Claire from Pain Pals. I love her blog. Claire is living with Ehlers Danlos syndromePOTS, back ops, chronic pain, spinal cord stimulator & disability.
I love her positive message and outlook on her illnesses. Keep going Claire and thank you for sharing your story!
