What not to say to a Coeliac

What Not To Say To Someone With Coeliac Disease!

If you want to live!

I have only recently in the last 5 months been confirmed as having Coeliac disease.

However, it has come to my attention while visiting restaurants and takeaways that being Coeliac isn’t always taken quite as seriously as it should be.

So here are a few sayings that you should never ever say to a Coeliac (especially a hungry one) if you want to keep your life and not be shot on site! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  1. A little bit of cross contamination won’t hurt!

This one drives me insane. A little bit of info for you. We have Coeliac disease, not an intolerance and it’s not just a faddy diet! Having gluten can make us very ill. Not just a little bit poorly, or a little bit shit, A LOT SHIT.

Stop cross contaminating our food. If you cant cook completely gluten-free – don’t fucking cook it!

  1. Are you sure you cant have some of this bread?

Yes, we are sure. Trust us, we know what we can and cant eat. Bread is not ok. For your information, this is what we cannot eat – Wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt and semolina and anything that contains gluten.

  1. Maybe you just eat too much?

No – I have been ‘glutened’. I know the feeling well. I am not just a fat bastard that eats too much.

  1. Are you sure it is coeliac disease and not just an allergy?

Hmmm – Yes. Thank you for asking. Having a pipe shoved down in my stomach and having a part of my bowel lining removed to be tested confirmed that. I have an autoimmune disease – I’m not just allergic to gluten.

5.) I have been doing the gluten-free diet as well – its really easy – I just don’t eat bread!

First of all – that is not a completely gluten-free diet. Secondly, I don’t do it for diet purposes, it makes me really really ill. Thirdly – shut up!

6.) We are having a meal at (insert person here), but they don’t have anything you can eat, so can you eat before you come?

Oh yeah sure, that’s loads of fun for me. Tell you what, I won’t bother coming.

7.) My (Insert person here) said they are gluten intolerant as well – they sometimes eat bread and things

ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH —- !!!!!!!!!!!!!

******* Hits person over the head repeatedly*********

Fancy trying a new pizza base? Why not give Califlourfoods ago.. Completely gluten free!

  1. This really funny, love the gifs! I’m someone who is merely gluten intolerant I’m assuming from a chronic multi systemic disease I have, not a full blown coeliac. Yet I love this post equally as much! People can be so ignorant. Thanks for putting a funny spin on a seriously misunderstood disease.
