Life with Anxiety can feel like your drowning
Amber from Zenfitliving has written a fantastic blog post that she has kindly allowed me to share with The Thyroid Damsel.
Amber is 26 and lives in Arkansas. She loves the outdoors, yoga and meditation
Let’s talk Anxiety and panic attacks. Anxiety has a daily part of my life for as long as I can remember.
When I have a panic attack, it’s like I’m drowning and can’t catch my breath. Other times it feels like someone is sucking the air right out of my lungs.
It’s pure hell living with the condition, 24/7, not knowing when an Anxiety/panic attack is going to hit. Feeling like you have to be perfect all the time and not mess up is a huge trigger.
There is nothing more damaging to someone’s self-esteem than making them feel like they have to be perfect all the damn time.
A few things I’ve learned that help when an anxiety attack hits are meditation and yoga. Doing yoga helps me reduce the attack by making me focus on my breathing.
Meditation lets me focus on clearing my mind and getting myself centred again.
Being centred and focused on something besides the attack and will help you calm down faster than anything else will.
I hope this helps someone else who suffers from anxiety and depression.
Nameste peace and love, Amber
